Why HINDUs have created a big mess about divine and simple teachings of 9 Upnishads and Gita ?

Problem is that many Hindus don't actually read their holy books...If you ask the average Christian if he has read the bible, the answer would be yes. If you ask the average Muslim if he has read the Koran the answer will be yes. However unfortunately the average Hindu has not read the Gita or the Vedas or the Bhagvatam. Untill Hindus don't read their books they will not understand the intellectual, spiritual and philosophical beauty of Hinduism. Many Hindus worship cows and other animals - where is it written in the Hindu books that Hindus should worship cows? NOWHERE. Many Hindus go the ganges and bathe in it - where is it written in the Hindu books that Hindus should take a bath in the ganges? NOWHERE. Problem is that so much rubbish has been passed off as Hinduism and as a result the average Hindu doesn't know what is authentic Hinduism from what is baseless superstition passed off as Hinduism by the illiterate priests.
