Which branch of the Military is best for going into R & D?

Hey I am just wondering which branch I should go into for R & D I was thinking along the lines of Air Force or Navy but I am not sure. I have seen many previous questions in regards to "technology" or "coolness". I know that the Army uses a lot of Technology but not necessarily make it and Marines...Well "Muscles Are Required Intelligence Not Essential" Lol sorry, raised by Swabbies and Puddle Pirates. I know you can't be a dunce to be a marine I just am not cut out for the Marines.
